  Photostamps
Lately, my poor email account has been obliterated with junk mail...so much so that i barely check it anymore. I did come across an email from a dear friend with a quirky photo idea --- photostamps! They are totally legitimate, a little overpriced but well worth the "oohs and aaahs" you'll receive when your friends & family get your invites or thank you cards. Check it out! www.photo.stamps.com

I checked into this last spring (here's an article on the topic), and found that there are three companies that have been authorized by the USPS to print customized stamps (thus far -- it's sort of a see-how-well-it-works thing):

* Stamps.com - photo.stamps.com
* Zazzle - www.zazzle.com/products/stamps.asp
* Endicia - www.pictureitpostage.com

I ended up going with Endicia, because I felt their stamps to be prettier, carrying the least amount of "other stuff" around the chosen picture.

I happened across a web page, Personalized Postage Stamps, that has samples of all three "brands" of stamps, photographed under similar conditions, which makes it easier to compare the different offerings. (The site appears to be a stamp and car collector, who has made photo stamps of many cars, and is selling off partial sheets of stamps to interested collectors -- I just found the pictures useful).

Random interesting bit: technically, what these stamps are is metered mail stickers (that's what the little 2D barcode is for). But they work just like normal stamps.

Obligatory disclaimer: I have no relation to any of these sites, other than having bought several sheets of stamps from Endicia.
